October 23, 2009 - Recall of Chenille Robes Expanded
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said a voluntary recall by Blair LLC of chenille robes is being expanded to include other chenille products.
The CPSC said in a release Thursday the recall of women's full length chenille robes from the company based in Warren, Pa., now includes additional chenille robes and three other chenille products.
The products are all manufactured by A-One Textile & Towel.
A total of 162,000 chenille robes were recalled by the company in April following three incidents in which the robes caught on fire.
Those reports, which included an incident involving second degree burns, were followed by nine reports of the robes allegedly catching fire and leading to fatalities. All of the deaths took place prior to the April recall.
The commission identified the products facing recall as Blair's full length women's chenille robes, women's chenille jacket, women's chenille lounge jacket and the women's chenille top.
The agency said some of the items could post a fire hazard if exposed to an open flame.
