Nestle recalls frozen food products due to presence of glass
Nestle recently announced that it was voluntarily recalling roughly three million frozen food items because of health risks posed by the presence of small glass pieces in boxes. The product recall is garnering major media attention because Nestle, based out of Switzerland, is one of the largest transnational food and beverage companies in the world.
Nestle issued the recall after a number of consumers reported finding small pieces of glass in the company’s popular spinach-based products. Thankfully, no actual injuries or illnesses have been reported at this time, according to a recent press release issued by Nestle.

Products that have been recalled by Nestle include four types of DiGiorno pizzas, five varieties of Lean Cuisine meals, and three different lasagnas and soufflés distributed under the Stouffer’s label. In its press release announcing the product recall, Nestle said that the company is operating under the assumption that “the source of the glass is spinach that was an ingredient common to the products subject to this recall.
Grocery stores in New Jersey, New York and elsewhere have been asked to remove the recalled items from store shelves. Additionally, any customers who purchased the affected products are asked to contact Nestle’s consumer services department at 800-681-1676.
