Orange, or the “City of Orange”, is a township in Essex County, New Jersey. First settled by families from Connecticut’s New Haven Colony, Orange was originally part of present-day Newark, with the community referred to as “Newark Mountains”. Residents voted to change the name to Orange in 1780. Orange later seceded from Newark and incorporated as a township in 1806, being reincorporated as a town in 1860 and as a city in 1872. Being located along busy highways and railroad lines, Orange has a long history as an industrial town, hosting many industries such as boot- and shoemaking, hatmaking, brewing, and office equipment/supply manufacturing. In 1982, the citizens of Orange voted to reorganize the city as a township to take advantage of governmental policies that allocated greater revenue sharing to townships.
Although you have the right to pursue a claim for compensation on your own, it is always advisable to let an experienced slip and fall accident attorney pursue compensation on your behalf. An attorney will know what your claim is actually worth and will know how to advocate on your behalf to get you the maximum compensation that you deserve. If it becomes necessary to pursue your claim in court, an attorney will have the experience with the legal system necessary to effectively and persuasively pursue your claim.
Following a slip and fall accident you may be contacted by insurance or risk management adjusters or law firms representing them or the property or business owner where your accident occurred. They may ask you questions about your accident or want you to provide them with a statement; they may claim that they need a statement from you in order to process a claim for compensation for you. However, these parties are not representing your interest; before you decide to speak to them, you may want to consider consulting with a slip and fall accident attorney about your case. Your attorney can help you decide whether to speak to an insurance company about your accident, or can speak with the insurance companies or law firms on your behalf to ensure that your rights and interests are adequately protected.
